Classes will be free of charge for citizens in four city parks. Participants will attend training, master classes, lectures, meetings with experts and English lessons, said Daria Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee, at the Business Monday today.

The main mission of the courses is to motivate the employees of the hospitality industry and all residents of the city to be more open and friendly towards tourists, to create an atmosphere of hospitality, noted D. Sannikova.

The program of courses consists of two parts. The first is a professional educational forum for hotels and restaurants, which will be held on June 19 at the Grand Hotel. Speakers will be experts in the field of tourism, including Tatiana Kibireva, the president of the First Club of Hospitality Professionals, Kirill Globov, the deputy dean for Science, Service and Tourism Faculty of the Kazan Innovative University, Natalia Kolganova, an auditor for national and international standards for HACCP/ISO, and many others.

There will be not only lectures at the forum, but also practical lessons, training from experts with many years of experience.

The second part of the program was prepared for the residents of the city. The meetings with citizens will be held in 4 parks. Representatives of the Directorate of sports and social projects will talk about WorldSkills movement. The Director of the Tourism Promotion Committee will acquaint Kazan citizens with the actively developing tourist potential of the city and will tell what interesting things can be shown to a guest in a particular residential area. Anastasia Ivanova, the executive director of the Association of Hotels in Kazan and the Republic, will share ideas on making the city even more attractive for tourists.

The first meeting will take place on June 11 in the park “Krylya Sovetov”. On June 13, the lecture will be held in the Uritsky Park, on June 25, in the park “Chernoe Ozero”, and on June 27, in the Gorkinsky-Ometievsky forest. All meetings will begin at 6.30 pm and continue until 8.20 pm.

In addition, a free course in speaking English will be held for everyone. 40-minute classes will be held in the area of the amphitheater of parks and in the lecture hall of the Gorkinsko-Ometievsky forest. The lesson will be led by a group of international school teachers with native speakers.

“English courses are an opportunity for citizens to help foreign guests navigate the streets, public spaces of the city, talk about sights and recommend to try national dishes”, explained D. Sannikova. Also, the lessons will provide grammar in short form for primary and secondary levels, she added.

Many courses were held for hospitality staff while preparing for major events in Kazan, but the residents are widely involved in this work for the first time, said Evgenia Lodvigova, the first deputy head of the Kazan Municipality. “A culture of direct dialog with residents for a variety of reasons is formed in the city. We see that there are many people with an active life and civic attitudes among the citizens, and this is a huge value for our city”, she said. “In addition, the experience of holding major international events shows that many residents have a great desire to participate in them. Everyone knows that Kazan friendliness, noted during the Universiade and all subsequent major events, is a merit of not only the organizers and volunteers, but also thousands of citizens who helped the guests. We look forward to feedback in this case as well”.

Each participant of courses will be awarded a memorable badge, added D. Sannikova in conclusion.
