(KZN.RU, August 6, Alina Berezhnaya). 5 tons of meat will be distributed to Kazan citizens in need during the Eid al-Adha celebration. About a thousand people and 10 organizations, including orphanages, boarding schools, and rehabilitation centers, will receive meat from sacrificial animals. This was announced today at a press conference in the news agency “Tatar-inform” by Bulat Mardanov, the general director of the charity foundation “Zakyat” of the Muslim Religious Board of the RT.
On August 11, Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the main holidays in Islam. It means the end of the Hajj. Traditionally, there is an action “Feed those in need” on the eve of the holiday in Kazan when everyone can buy a lamb from the foundation “Zakyat” and give the meat to those in need. The fund deals with all organizational issues from the purchase of meat to its distribution.
Also, a charity iftar for 200 people will be held on the day of Eid al-Adha in one of the mosques in Kazan. A charity dinner will take place in the complex “Tugan Avylym” where 250 people will take part.
Charity and social events on the eve of the holiday began in July, said Bulat Mardanov. Thus, on July 30-31 and August 1, charity dinners for large families and families raising children with special needs were held in one of the Kazan cafes. On August 4, “Ak Bars” players Emil Garipov and Albert Yarullin met with the young wards of the foundation “Zakyat” and organized free hairdressing services for them in the barbershop.
This year, public celebrations will be held in public spaces of the city. “Eid al-Adha today is not only a religious, but also a public holiday. Our population should see the fullness of such a noble action as Eid al-Adha”, said Rustem Khazrat Valiulin, the first deputy mufti of Tatarstan. The central venue for the celebration will be Gorky Park. On August 11 at 1 pm, the family holiday “Kurban-Fest: Give Warmth!” will start there. A concert program, master classes, food courts and much more have been prepared for guests. Also, festive events will be held in Derbyshki, the park “Little Prince” of Nagorny, and in the territories of the mosques “Nur al-Islam” (Musa Bigiev Street, №36) and “Gailya” (Faizi Street, №2).
On August 11, the festive prayers in mosques will begin at 4 am with a sermon in Kazan. Public transport, the routes of which pass through mosques, will work from 3 am this day. After the festive prayer, a rite of the sacrifice of sacrificial animals will be held at 16 sites, which will last for three days from August 11 to August 13.
