In course of time, Kazan will become one of our country’s best cities – convenient and comfortable for living and attracting youth. First Vice Premier of Russian Government Igor Shuvalov expressed such an opinion at the ceremony of opening 6 Universiade-2013 sport objects and summing up results of the Year of Sport and Healthy Lifestyle in the Republic of Tatarstan. The ceremony took place at the Single Combats Palace “Ak Bars” on December 21. Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the ceremony.

“The Universiade in Kazan will be an important stage on the way to the Olympics-2014. We will have to verify the readiness of volunteers, the administrative system,” Igor Shuvalov pointed out. According to words of the Universiade-2013 organizing committee head, he anchors big hopes on the Games in Kazan which would raise university sports on a new development level and “make Kazan one of the best places in our country”. “Kazan Universiade-2013 project is a good ground to show the world how we care about the next generation,” Igor Shuvalov is convinced.

Mintimer Shaimiev thanked Russia’s authorities for support in preparation for the World Summer Universiade-2013.
