The 28th Shalyapin International Opera Festival will be held at Musa Jalil Tatar Academic State Theatre of Opera and Ballet on February 8-22, the theatre press-service informs.
The 28th Shalyapin International Opera Festival gathers a great entry list – about 40 performers from the US, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Greece, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, etc. and also the largest theatres of Russia (including Mariinsky and Bolshoi). The festival programme includes 10 operas – the best shows of Tatar Theatre of Opera and Ballet of the recent years.
The premier show “Madam Butterfly” by G. Puccini will open the festival. Opera admirers will also have an opportunity to listen to by P. Tchaikovsky “The Maid of Orleans”, “Bohemia” by G. Puccini, “Aida”, “Traviata” and “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi, “The Magic Flute” by W. Mozart, “The Tzar’s Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov. According to the tradition, the musical drama “Boris Godunov” by Musorgsky will be held on Fyodor Shalyapin’s birthday.
Shalyapin’s festival is the largest event in musical and theatrical life of Russia. It is a unique event in the history of the modern Russian theatre. The festival was established 28 years ago and had the republican status. In 1985 it acquired the status of an all-Russian festival; in 1991 – international.
